The Science of Lasting Weight Loss

When you exercise based on your personality and brain chemistry, you begin to understand the way your brain is wired.  

You understand what motivates you, like never before. 

For example, by doing the personality test, we found that my wife was low in a brain chemical called GABA. 

Low levels of GABA have been linked to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and stress.  

Since she’s prone to anxiety, when something stressful came up, she felt the need to boost her mood with chips or chocolate.  

And she couldn’t resist the temptation, because her brain was craving to release the stress and anxiety she felt.  

And the quickest way her brain knew to do this was by eating mood-boosting foods like cookies and chocolate.  

It gave her brain a release in serotonin, dopamine, and GABA to replenish her levels, stablaize her mood, and release a bit of her anxiety and stress.  

At the expense of releasing some short term stress, she gained weight from eating junk food.  

Of course it’s easy to say avoid junk food.   

But when you’re low on vital chemicals in your brain, and sudden events come up that make your brain crave it like no tomorrow, what are you meant to do?  

It’s a willpower battle at that stage, and emotions always take over.  

We simply bought a GABA supplement, and her anxiety and stress stabalized. She didn’t feel the need to reach for junk food when stressful events came up.

We also found from the personality test that based on her brain chemistry, shes a more natural endurance athlete.

And that she would find working on technique in the gym a motivating and interesting way to train.  

This is because her personality naturally wants to avoid risk.

Focusing on the technique component of exercise put her focus on doing movements properly.

For her, this was a motivating angle to approach training.

And it’s another way we’ve used the results from her personality test to motivate her to get her to the gym in the first place, and also keep consistently going.

And a way to tailor your program would be to reduce carbohydrates for breakfast, and increase protein.  

Carbohydrates make you feel sluggish, and it’s impossible to get anything done at work or in the gym when you feel like that.
